Overview of the Major
Chinese Language and Literature mainly studies the basic theories and knowledge of Chinese language and Chinese literature, including related theories, development history, and current research status. It involves various fields such as poetry, modern and contemporary literature, and folk literature. It is used for article editing and writing, literary criticism, etc., in the newspaper and journalism, and publishing industries. The logical starting point for our school to add Chinese Language and Literature as a major is to practice new liberal arts concepts such as "upholding tradition and innovation", "cross-integration", and "tool technology". Relying on Chinese Language and Literature, we have established interdisciplinary new liberal arts majors such as "Chinese Language and Literature + Journalism" and "Chinese Language and Literature + Education". Our major is based in Lingnan, highlighting the inheritance and innovation of Lingnan traditional Chinese language education and cultural resources, laying a solid cultural foundation for future Chinese language teachers. We have established a "full curriculum" system with "AI assistance and technology empowerment" as the core, introducing artificial intelligence and media technology into the curriculum, and carrying out teaching practices with tool method teaching as a means and technological thinking guidance as the goal in courses such as language technology and digital media technology. We are setting up an inclusive and open Lingnan cultural series of courses to meet the needs of the cultural industry development in the Greater Bay Area and cultivate practical talents for the economic and social development of the Greater Bay Area.
