According to surveys, media communication enterprises, internet companies, gaming and amusement enterprises, film and television media, drama troupes, short video production, iQIYI websites, and other multimedia-related enterprises in Guangdong Province can absorb a considerable number of graduating students every year. Based on the analysis of the current status, characteristics, trends, and orientations of the industries aligned with this major, the Performance major cultivates talents in areas such as theatrical and film/television performance, new media performance, and music and dance performance. These talents possess basic theories and professional skills in performance, artistic direction, performance planning, as well as cultural and performing arts market operations. This major primarily targets Guangdong and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, aiming to cultivate individuals who are comprehensively developed in moral, intellectual, physical, aesthetic, and labor aspects. They should master the basic theories and professional skills of the Performance major, possess certain comprehensive artistic creation abilities in theatrical and film/television performance, new media performance, music and dance performance, as well as good artistic accomplishments. They should be proficient in the basic theories, creative methods, and professional practical skills of performing arts. They should possess strong abilities in cultural and performing arts market development and innovation, enabling them to engage in artistic creation, performance event planning, and other work in the fields of culture and arts, media, theater, film and television, and new media, adapting to the development needs of the cultural and creative industry.

The teaching is divided into five characteristic teaching modes: "stage practice + competition-driven teaching + classroom practice + school-enterprise cooperation + certificate grading." The "innovative teaching mode" of stage practice cultivates students' stage practice abilities, organizing school, government-sponsored performances, and social service performances. The "three-in-one" curriculum system highlights the major's characteristics in "diverse performing arts" and "drama-driven teaching," intersecting and integrating disciplinary development.

Faculty Team

Our school's combination of full-time and part-time teachers provides a solid guarantee for the teaching of the Performance major. The School of Media and Communication currently has 21 full-time teachers, including 5 professors, 8 associate professors, 1 chief editor, and 7 lecturers. Among them, there are 4 doctors and 15 masters. Additionally, the School of Media and Communication will invite and absorb more teaching staff from related professions as part-time and guest professors through cooperation with film and television cultural institutions, further enriching the teaching staff. The teaching staff has a reasonable structure in terms of professional titles, age, and academic qualifications, combining full-time and part-time teachers, possessing high academic standards and rich teaching experience. At the same time, part-time teachers and frontline mentors bring practical teaching experience, fully meeting the teaching needs in terms of quality. Most professional teachers have worked in national and provincial media frontlines and have overseas study experiences, possessing distinct advantages in "dual-teacher" and "international" backgrounds. The teaching staff has a reasonable structure in terms of professional titles, age, and academic qualifications, combining full-time and part-time teachers, possessing high academic standards and rich teaching experience.
