The Cross border E-commerce major aims to cultivate composite applied senior specialized talents who have mastered the theoretical knowledge related to cross-border e-commerce, possess strong practical operation capabilities of cross-border e-commerce platforms, are proficient in English for business communication, are familiar with cross-border e-commerce laws and regulations, cross-border logistics operations, international marketing models, and international trade rules and practices, have certain self-learning abilities, strong employment, entrepreneurial abilities, and sustainable development abilities.
The proportion of cross-border e-commerce in China's foreign trade has increased from 11.23% in 2013 to 37.32% in 2022. Over the past decade, China's cross-border e-commerce has maintained a double-digit annual growth rate. Guangdong's cross-border e-commerce continues to develop rapidly, ranking first in the country for 8 consecutive years. The new business model represented by cross-border e-commerce has become a new driving force for the development of Guangdong's foreign trade, a new channel for industrial transformation and upgrading, a new channel for brand expansion, and a new lever for high-quality economic development.
The rapid development of cross-border e-commerce in Guangdong has driven a strong demand for professionals in cross-border e-commerce. But in contrast to the huge market potential, there is a huge talent gap in cross-border e-commerce. According to the data from the Online Economic and Social E-commerce Research Center, there is currently a talent gap of approximately 4.5 million in China's cross-border field, which is expanding at an annual growth rate of 30%.
2. Training Objectives

Our school now has a comprehensive experimental center for economic management, covering an area of over 5371 square meters. It has experimental teaching facilities such as an e-commerce laboratory, marketing decision-making laboratory, modern logistics laboratory, business negotiation room, business etiquette training room, ERP laboratory, and international trade laboratory. The cross-border e-commerce talent training experimental platform and cross-border e-commerce big data training platform jointly built with Shanghai Minxue Information Technology Co., Ltd. and Guangzhou Ruoyou E-commerce Co., Ltd. have been approved for the collaborative education project between industry and academia by the Higher Education Department of the Ministry of Education. The employment internship base jointly built with Alibaba (China) Network Technology Co., Ltd. and Guangzhou Weige E-commerce Co., Ltd. has been approved for the employment and education project of the Ministry of Education's University Student Department's supply and demand docking. At present, teaching software based on mainstream cross-border e-commerce platforms such as Alibaba International Station, AliExpress, Amazon, as well as Facebook and Google overseas marketing platforms has been used for professional teaching. With the cultivation of students' innovative spirit and practical business abilities as the core, relying on laboratories and practical bases as carriers, schools and enterprises collaborate to carry out practical teaching, integrating specialization and innovation, theory and practice, and promoting learning through competition. The practical teaching conditions can ensure that 100% of the experimental projects specified in the teaching syllabus of each course are opened, which can fully meet the experimental teaching needs of cross-border e-commerce majors.
The School of Business Administration has accumulated numerous resources from enterprises and industry associations, and has over 100 internship bases for enterprises. The school and enterprises have achieved cooperation models for cross-border e-commerce students, including internship employment, joint talent cultivation, course co construction, and consulting services. Establish a professional guidance committee for more than half of the industry and enterprise personnel, and collaborate to develop talent training plans. Introducing cross-border e-commerce practical projects from cooperative enterprises in the teaching process, with industry experts, enterprise mentors, and school teachers collaborating to teach, building a teaching team, and constructing a collaborative teaching quality evaluation system between schools and enterprises. Graduates of this major are mainly engaged in cross-border e-commerce, international trade, international logistics, international business and other fields, engaged in international market research, online marketing promotion, cross-border store operation, international logistics management and other cross-border e-commerce business and management work. Cross border e-commerce has become a new driving force for China's economic growth. Guangdong's cross-border e-commerce transaction volume has been ranked first in the country for many years. This major is a newly established undergraduate major by the Ministry of Education in 2020, and currently only a few universities in China offer it. The supply of cross-border e-commerce talents is in short supply.
7. Teaching Staff
The School of Business Administration conducted the field of e-commerce under the undergraduate program of Marketing as early as 2006. At present, the School of Business Administration has an experienced teaching team specializing in cross-border e-commerce. There are 10 full-time teachers in this major, including 1 professor, 3 associate professors, and 3 lecturers, with a master's degree or above of 100%. Most of them are "double qualified" teachers, with a reasonable professional title, educational background, and age structure. This major places great emphasis on strengthening teacher training, co building teaching teams between schools and enterprises, encouraging teachers to participate in academic conferences both on and off campus, encouraging teachers to work in enterprises for training, and visiting well-known universities for exchange. We have improved the system of mutual employment and utilization between schools and enterprises, introduced industry and enterprise experts to enrich the teaching staff, and hired more than 10 enterprise mentors with rich practical experience to give lectures or serve as professional course instructors, internship instructors, thesis instructors, and innovation and entrepreneurship mentors, enhancing the practical capabilities of the teaching team and providing human resources support for the cultivation of applied talents at the undergraduate level.
