The major: Architecture is a science that studies architectural technology, design art, and the human living environment. It is a leading profession in the construction industry. Guangdong Baiyun University's five-year architecture program is a school-enterprise collaborative education demonstration program. Leveraging the advantages of the school's architectural professional cluster development, it highlights the combination of digital design with BIM technology, green building technology, prefabricated technology, and other emerging engineering technologies, contributing to talent cultivation for the renewal of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area cities, rural revitalization, and sustainable development of urban and rural human settlements.
Curriculum system: Reflecting the talent cultivation characteristics of "professionalism + individual development," it provides students with elective course modules such as emerging architectural technology, traditional cultural inheritance, registered architect certification, urban ecology and rural planning, etc. In addition, through continuous design courses over five years, with progressive design projects, academic competition projects, and real enterprise projects as carriers, it creates a unique immersive learning environment for students, improving their design practice, scientific research ability, and professional quality.
Construction results: Three main professional courses have been recognized as first-class undergraduate courses in Guangdong Province. The program has also achieved various honors and certifications, such as the Guangdong Provincial Industrialized Construction Application Science and Education Integration Practice Teaching Base, Guangdong Provincial Residential Design University Practice Teaching Base, school-enterprise collaborative education demonstration major, and its professional reform case was included in the Guangdong Provincial Applied Undergraduate Talent Cultivation Reform Achievement Collection. The curriculum reform case has won more than 30 awards at the national and provincial levels, and the teaching team has won more than 20 awards in various teaching competitions at the national and provincial levels.
Characteristics of Architecture Major
This major is aligned with the industries in the Greater Bay Area, following the OBE concept of "student-centered, output-oriented, and continuous improvement" to construct a talent training program and curriculum system closely aligned with industrial needs, with collaborative training between government, school, and enterprise.
Introduction of new architectural technologies into the curriculum: Focusing on the demands of the architectural industry development in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area for talent capabilities, the curriculum system incorporates three cutting-edge architectural technologies: BIM technology, green building technology, and prefabricated technology. The government, schools, and enterprises have also cooperated to develop a series of professional technical certificates for related technologies, allowing students to choose to take the exams during their school years.
Development of architectural professional clusters: Using BIM technology, green building technology, prefabricated technology, and other new architectural technologies as bridges, a unique architectural professional cluster is built from planning and design to budgeting, construction, and management. By leveraging the advantages of cluster development and sharing various resources, the program cultivates interdisciplinary and cross-professional talents in new engineering fields.
School-enterprise collaboration to establish project studios: The school and enterprises have jointly established project studios such as Jiangxin BIM Studio, Jianwei JW Studio, and Lvjian T+ Studio, providing students with a platform for project combat. Through the combination of project-based teaching in class and project combat outside class, as well as the integration of design projects and academic competition projects, the program cultivates architectural professionals who "understand technology, emphasize application, and are strong in practice." Students have won more than 100 national and provincial awards in academic competitions, especially in the three new technology fields. For example, they have won six awards in the National College Students' Energy Conservation and Emission Reduction Social Practice and Science and Technology Competition hosted by the Department of Higher Education of the Ministry of Education. Every year, more than 70% of students enter national A-level architectural design institutes for internships and employment, and the satisfaction rate of employers reaches over 95%.
Teaching Conditions
School teaching conditions: The school is located in the north campus of Guangdong Baiyun University and has more than 30 laboratories on campus, including the Thin-walled Light Steel Structure Prefabricated Construction Engineering Technology Development Center (Guangdong Provincial Key Scientific Research Platform), the Architectural Industrialization Application Science and Education Integration Practice Teaching Base (Guangdong Provincial Science and Education Integration Practice Teaching Base), the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Prefabricated Building Training Center (filed with Guangdong Provincial Education Department), the Home Furnishing Design Practice Teaching Base (Guangdong Provincial College Student External Practice Teaching Base), the Prefabricated Building College Student Practice Teaching Base (Guangdong Provincial College Student External Practice Teaching Base), and the Architectural Virtual Simulation Teaching Training Room (Ministry of Education Collaborative Education Project), as well as multimedia classrooms, amphitheaters, smart classrooms, etc., with a total construction area of nearly 10,000 square meters. The college has established cooperative relationships with more than 200 enterprises and institutions in the Pearl River Delta region, such as China Construction Fourth Engineering Division, and has co-built an industrial college, 12 project studios, and 95 external practice bases with enterprises and associations, fully meeting students' internship and employment needs. In addition, the college has established stable exchanges and cooperation relationships with multiple foreign universities such as Middlesex University in the UK, and has cooperated in cultivating BIM technology professional masters.
Professional practice conditions: The architecture major focuses on cultivating students' new knowledge, new technology, and practical abilities. It has established various experimental venues such as art studios, architectural drawing rooms, architectural model making rooms, computer-aided design training rooms, computer BIM training rooms, architectural virtual simulation teaching training rooms, architectural cognition robot laboratories, 3D printing laboratories, green building laboratories, building material laboratories, engineering survey laboratories, prefabricated building technology design laboratories, curriculum design rooms, cloud structure green building research rooms, cloud quality intelligent building research rooms, cloud construction PC research rooms, etc. It has also built project studios such as Jiangxin BIM Studio, JW Jianwei Studio, and T+ Green Building Studio through school-enterprise collaboration, guiding students to carry out project combat training and providing project consulting services for enterprises.

After graduation, students can work in various positions (groups) such as architectural scheme design, architectural construction drawing design, BIM architectural information model design, architectural industrialization module design, architectural digital design, green architectural design, architectural decoration design, architectural landscape design, regional planning, and design management in architectural design institutes, design companies, planning institutes, landscape companies, architectural decoration companies, real estate enterprises, architectural technology companies, infrastructure engineering departments of various enterprises and institutions, and government departments.

Teaching team: The architecture major's teaching team consists of masters and doctors from various well-known universities at home and abroad, such as the University of Pennsylvania, University of California, Sheffield University, University of Bath, Harbin Institute of Technology, South China University of Technology, Chongqing University, Xi'an University of Architecture and Technology, and Huazhong University of Science and Technology. Among them, 100% have master's or doctoral degrees, 31% have work or study experience abroad, 40% have senior or higher professional titles, and more than 90% are double-qualified teachers.
