Ⅰ. Professional overview

This major is based on computer technology as the core, photoelectric sensing technology as the support, to create a visual, listening, touch as one of the virtual environment of comprehensive technology, covering computer information science, communication, art, etc., is a rising and development of the cross field. The university actively integrates talent training into the local industrial chain, enterprise technology chain and international talent chain, and actively explores a new model of the integration of industry and education. Our school is the first undergraduate university in Guangdong province to be approved by the Ministry of Education to open this major.

This major involves intelligent transportation, energy, intelligent manufacturing, intelligent agriculture and water conservancy, education, health, brigade, wisdom, intelligent household, wisdom government ten digital application scenarios, aims to cultivate home country feelings, healthy personality, international vision, spirit and innovation ability, in the field of virtual reality and its application development, content production and project practice ability, can undertake virtual reality and expand in the field of project modeling, product development, technology management and engineering design jobs of applied talents.


Ⅱ. Cultivation objectives

This professional closely combined with the demand of digital economy development, facing the actual enterprise (industry), adhere to the fundamental principle of cultivating virtue and talent, cultivate and practice the socialist core values, training with virtual reality theory basis and visual interaction, engine development, scene design, virtual reality creation skills, art appreciation and communication skills, can use virtual reality technology in intelligent manufacturing, health care, digital brigade, education entertainment in areas such as compound, innovative talents.


Ⅲ. Knowledge and ability

1. Engineering knowledge and ability: Master the basic mathematical knowledge and thinking methods necessary for virtual reality technology, and be able to use mathematics, engineering foundation and professional knowledge to solve engineering problems in the process of virtual reality technology.

2. Problem analysis ability: I can use the basic principles related to mathematics, natural science and virtual reality technology, identify, express, and study and analyze complex virtual reality technology problems through literature retrieval, so as to obtain effective conclusions.

3.Design/Development Solution Capability: Able to design solutions for specific system requirements, including software functional design, system architecture design, component design, and database design, and demonstrate innovation awareness in the design process, considering social, health, safety, legal, cultural, and environmental factors. 4. Research ability: Be able to analyze, design and implement the multi-layer architecture software system based on scientific principles and using scientific methods.

5.Ability to use modern tools: able to analyze and select appropriate technologies, resources, modern engineering tools, and information technology tools for specific software problems, predict and simulate complex software engineering problems, improve the efficiency of solving complex software problems, enhance the standardization of solutions, and understand their limitations.

Ⅳ.Professional features of virtual reality technology

This major connects with the industry of the Greater Bay Area. According to the OBE concept of "student center, output-oriented and continuous improvement", it builds the talent training program and curriculum system according to the industrial needs, and conducts collaborative training between government, schools and enterprises.

1. Educational concept

This major adheres to the advanced concept of "student-centered", takes the international Engineering Education Professional Certification (OBE) as the standard, is designed in strict accordance with the requirements of industry technology and employment elements, defines the training standards and quality according to the industry talent evaluation standards, emphasizes the combination of theory and practice, and carries out the new mode of integration of industry and education.

2. Cultivation mode

Guangdong Province has always been at the forefront of virtual reality technology and application in China, providing abundant virtual reality jobs; On the other hand, the university follows the laws of discipline development, talent training and school running, emphasizes the foundation and characteristics, and encourages the "VR +" development model, promotes the innovation of virtual reality technology, and strives to cultivate more high-quality technical talents. The school implements the "3 + 1" mode, strengthens the practical teaching in enterprises, and opens up the "last kilometer" channel between schools and enterprises.

3. Way of talent training

The process of talent training adopts the vertical integrated project (VIP) teaching and training system, the virtual reality technology to use in intelligent manufacturing, medical and health care, digital cultural tourism, education and entertainment and other fields, follows the growth law of engineering talents, and cultivates applied innovative talents with the ability to solve complex engineering problems. Schools and enterprises jointly build an environment for the growth of industry talents, build a practice platform inside and outside the school, introduce real cases of enterprises, and carry out practical education.


Ⅴ.Teaching conditions

The experimental conditions related to professional teaching are basically met. The college currently has a teaching laboratory building and a big data collaborative innovation center, managing more than 30 professional and innovation laboratories such as the Three Painting Laboratory, Computer Teaching Experiment, and College Student Science and Technology Innovation Center. The total area of the laboratories is over 2000 square meters, with a total investment of over 10 million yuan, which can basically meet the needs of virtual reality technology teaching. The next step is to build a VR laboratory to improve students' professional practical abilities.

Our college has established school enterprise cooperation relationships with Haoyun Technology Co., Ltd., Guangzhou Zhangdong Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd., and Guangzhou Anquan Digital Technology Co., Ltd. Unity Authorized Industry Education Integration Center to ensure practical teaching through school enterprise cooperation.

According to the requirements of virtual Shina as a technical major, the school has established a comprehensive quality control system, covering training objectives, training specifications, curriculum system, teaching standards, professional teacher team, teaching conditions, teaching effectiveness, and other content. In terms of quality monitoring measures, the school has a teaching guidance committee for designated management. The second level teaching supervision organization of the institution arranges special supporting funds to support the construction of the virtual reality technology major according to the needs, creating a good working, learning, and research environment for the growth of academic college leaders, teaching backbone, and scientific research.


Ⅵ. Employment prospects

The digital economy is becoming an important engine for stabilizing growth and promoting transformation in China. Virtual reality, the Internet of Things, artificial intelligence, and digital media are the bases of the digital economy, and various industries use the digital base for industrial upgrading. Guangdong Province has always been at the forefront of virtual reality technology and application fields in China, with a well-developed industrial chain and a certain degree of industrial cluster effect.

Guangdong Province has 26% of the total number of virtual reality enterprises in the country, providing abundant virtual reality employment opportunities. With the promotion of the construction of the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area and the support of multiple virtual reality entrepreneurship incubation bases and industrial parks in the province, a group of virtual reality enterprises have been established and grown rapidly, forming a certain industrial cluster effect. The construction of virtual reality majors in our country is in its early stages. Currently, most VR developers have transitioned from industries such as gaming, animation 3D simulation, and modeling. There is a shortage of virtual reality talents and a shortage of composite professional talents, and there is a certain development space for talent cultivation. The main employment areas of this major include:

(1) Able to engage in product research and creation related to virtual reality in virtual reality software and hardware enterprises;

(2) Capable of undertaking the development, deployment, maintenance, and application of virtual reality technology in traditional industries such as education, aerospace, manufacturing, and military virtualization upgrades;

(3) Capable of undertaking the research and development, audio deployment, maintenance, and application of virtual reality products in emerging industries such as film and television, gaming, live streaming, cultural and creative industries, social media, and shopping;

(4) Engaged in teaching, research and other related work in various schools and research institutes;

(5) You can continue to pursue a master's or doctoral degree in your major or computer related field.

Our university has been approved by the Ministry of Education to offer the Virtual Reality Technology major, which independently recruits and trains undergraduate students. It is the first undergraduate university in the province to be approved to offer this major. This major involves ten digital application scenarios, including intelligent transportation, smart energy, smart manufacturing, smart agriculture and water conservancy, smart education, smart healthcare, smart tourism, smart community, smart home, and smart government. Graduates can choose to work in multiple directions such as virtual reality development, engineering, product design, and visual effects design, with good employment prospects.


Ⅶ. Teachers

This major has a faculty team that combines both professional and part-time teaching, has strong engineering practical abilities, and has a certain international perspective. There are currently 11 professional teachers, including 1 professor level senior engineer, 2 associate professors, 1 senior engineer, and 10 intermediate or above professional titles. The proportion of those with master's degrees exceeds 90%. Teachers have in-depth research in cutting-edge fields such as virtual reality technology, big data, artificial intelligence, and the Internet of Things. In recent years, I have hosted and participated in 26 national, provincial, and municipal level teaching and research projects, as well as 29 school level teaching and research projects; Published 69 academic papers; Received 2 invention patents, 16 utility model patents, 3 design patents, and 66 software copyrights. Guide students to win over 33 awards in national and provincial competitions.
