This major is jointly constructed by Guangdong Baiyun University and Shuguang Information Industry Co., Ltd. The training of professional talents relies on the "Hundred Schools Project" of the Ministry of Education and the "Shuguang Big Data College", one of the first demonstration industrial colleges in Guangdong Province. The school and enterprise jointly develop a professional talent training plan, carry out course teaching, and implement practical teaching and characteristic teaching services. This major is one of the first characteristic majors of deep cooperation between schools and enterprises in Guangdong Province, as well as the new engineering construction major in Guangdong Province.
This major combines cutting-edge technologies such as computer technology, big data analysis, data mining and processing, mobile development and architecture, software development, and cloud computing, and introduces enterprise real project drills. With the strong faculty of the Industrial College, it aims to cultivate specialized talents who can engage in the analysis, development, and application of big data engineering projects, such as system integration, big data application system analysis, data mining, data storage, and data visualization. At the same time, it cultivates high-level, practical, and international big data composite talents with innovative thinking and skills.

This major connects with the industry of the Greater Bay Area. According to the OBE concept of "student center, output-oriented and continuous improvement", it builds the talent training program and curriculum system according to the industrial needs, and conducts collaborative training between government, schools and enterprises.
1. Educational concept
This major adhere to the "student as the center, output orientation, continuous improvement" concept, to the international engineering education professional certification (OBE) as the standard, in strict accordance with the industry technology and element design requirements, defined by industry talent evaluation standard training standards and quality, emphasizes the combination of theory and practice, teaching fusion of enterprise campus activities.
2. Cultivation mode
This major is to carry out the training mode of "six co-construction" of school-enterprise dual subjects with Zhongke Shuguang, and establish the school-enterprise cooperation management Committee and the professional steering Committee, to jointly carry out the teaching of big data professional courses and jointly train big data professionals. We will implement the "3 + 1" model, strengthen practical teaching in enterprises, and open up the "last kilometer" channel for schools and enterprises.

We have established computer foundation laboratory, computer software laboratory, computer graphic design laboratory, big data application collaborative innovation center and other laboratories, with a total area of 1000 square meters, more than 300 computers, and Dawn big data integration server, with a total equipment value of 14 million yuan.
The Big Data Application Collaborative Innovation Center is a "Industry Education Integration, Data China, and Hundred Schools Project" innovation base jointly built by Guangdong Baiyun University and Zhongke Shuguang with an investment of 10 million yuan, and planned and developed by the School Planning and Construction Development Center of the Ministry of Education, Zhongke Shuguang, and Guangdong Baiyun University.
The big data application collaborative innovation center server integrates teaching, scientific research, and social services. The server adopts a hardware integrated structure, and the system capacity reaches 600TB. The server builds an Infinity 9000 big data ecosystem, integrating 13 teaching and application related big data technology service systems, including Edu teaching experimental system, Lsn course management system, Insight big data intelligent analysis platform, Mining data mining platform, Xdata big data ecological analysis management platform, big data application development platform, and industry big data practical system. This server has been connected to the practical teaching center of Boya Building, providing classroom teaching support for students, and can carry out talent cultivation, course teaching, big data industry application analysis, big data server application, etc. in data science and big data technology majors, realizing the functions of talent cultivation, teaching and research, and social services.

In the government work report, the country has repeatedly mentioned keywords such as big data and artificial intelligence. This is the fifth time that big data and the second time that artificial intelligence has been written in the government work report. Big data and artificial intelligence have both been promoted as national strategies and international strategies.
The State Information Center has conducted a comprehensive analysis of the development of big data in China. The report clearly points out that the job characteristics of the talent demand in the big data industry are according to the top three categories of demand: analysis, RESEARCH and development and management positions. The three categories of positions account for 88.61% of the talent demand in the whole big data industry. At the same time, it is clearly pointed out that talents with a bachelor's degree are currently the absolute main force of the big data industry.
The major of Data Science and Big Data Technology is committed to cultivating professional and technical personnel for analytical engineers, algorithm engineers and development engineers in the field of big data and artificial intelligence. At the same time, to cultivate students to have good self-learning ability, and provide a platform and channel for lifelong learning, to help graduates grow into senior engineers in this field through 3-5 years, and gradually develop towards the direction of data scientists and architecture engineers.
The graduates of this major are mainly engaged in Guangdong Province and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and they are engaged in big data system research and development engineers, big data application and development engineers, big data analysts, data visualization engineers, and big data operation and maintenance engineers as typical big data industry positions.

This major has a combination of full-time, engineering practice ability, with a certain international vision of teachers. At present, there are 22 professional teachers, including 21 master teachers, 3 senior titles, 3 associate senior titles, 13 intermediate titles, 15 double-qualified teachers and 1 excellent teacher in Southern Guangdong. There are 4 enterprise teachers.82% of the professional teachers have enterprise working experience and practical project research and development experience. Teachers have in-depth research in frontier fields such as big data, artificial intelligence and Internet of Things.
