The Objective

The Course of Japanese Language is designed to cultivate students with with global vision, comprehensive theorecical knowledge and applied skills of Japanese language in the area of international trade business, interpreting and translation business, and teaching and develop students to a professional practitioner of Japanese language. The Course is articulated with that of  Hokkaido Bunkyo University (2.5+2 double degree program) and Okayama University of Business (2+2.5 double degree program) where students could study for 2 years in China and 2.5 years in Japan to acquire two degrees from each of the two universities. 

Knowledge, Skills and Capabilities

Students who complete the Course will be able to  acquire the linguistic theories and applied skills in using Japanese language and proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, writing and translation of Japanese language, understand theories and skills in international business and cross-border e-commerce, and obtain skills in computer software processing and office administration along with the applied skills of Japanese language.  


The Course contains linguistics and grammar of Japanese language, Japanese history and culture, applied skills in listening, speaking, reading, writing and translation and knowledge of international business including e-commerce. The Course is of 4-year duration. 


Core Units Introduction of Japanese Languages, Fundamentals of Japanese, Intermediate Japanese, Advanced Japanese, Japanese (Listening), Conversation in Japanese, Japanese (Extensive Reading), Japanese (Writing), Cross-cultural Communication, Business Correspondence in Japanese, E-commerce, International Trade Practices, Cross-border e-Commerce


In line with the curriculum model of  "Japanese language + cross-disciplines  + internship" as well as  the  3+1 curriculum structure, the Department  delivers the 4-year Bachelor degree program in four stages:

First Stage: 4 Units of Fundamentals of Japanese  over 4 semesters in First Year and Second Year;

Second Stage: 2 Units of Advanced Japanese, Business Japanese Correspondence, International Trade Practices, e-Commerce in Third Year

Third Stage: 2 Intensive Units in the Seventh semester of Fourth Year through "paid internship programs" in Japanese companies and Units of Economics, Business Administration, International Business and other courses in Japanese Colleges and Universities in Japan

Fourth Stage: Graduation Stage in the Eighth Semester of Fourth Year to complete the graduation thesis, research reports and translation works


The Course  will be assessed by progressive learning tasks, final examination and graduation thesis/dissertation.


Bachelor of  Arts is awarded to those who meet the requirements of graduation .

Career Prospects

Graduates could seek a career in companies of cross-border e-commerce, domestic electronic commerce, administration, sales, foreign language services, foreign trade, tourism, translation, and management, secretarial services, economic and trade business as well as teaching of Japanese in educational institutions.
