The Objective

The Course of Engineering Management (Construction Management) is a newly emerging interdisciplinary course which is designed to cultivate students with the integrated knowledge, theories, skills of both management and engineering and develop students to be a professional Managerial Engineer.

Knowledge, Skills and Capabilities

The Course contains the theories and skills in the area of engineering management including both the business disciplinary principles of management and the disciplinary principles of engineering. 


The Course contains theories and practices, skills and technologies, regulations and operations in the integrated area of engineering and management. The Course is of 4-year duration.

Core Units 

First Year: Introduction to Engineering Management, Economic Mathematics, Architectural Mechanics, Engineering Drawing, Architectural Drawing and CAD, Residential Architecture, Construction Materials, Advanced Engineering Management, Engineering Economics 

Second Year: Construction Physics, Engineering Survey, Engineering Supervision, Civil Engineering Construction Technology, Construction and Project Risk Management, Project Financing, Civil Engineering Construction, Management Theory, Financial Theory, Soil Mechanics and Foundation

Third Year: Construction Equipment, Construction Engineering Measurements and Evaluation, Concrete Structure Principles, Budgeting, Project Feasibility Study, Construction Project Management and Practices, Contract Management and Bidding, Engineering Project Management, Operations Research, Real Estate Development and Management, Subgrade Road and Pavement Engineering, Construction Drawing Design 

Fourth Year: Business Research, Production Practices, Graduation Practice and Graduation Thesis.


The Course is delivered in lectures, tutorials, workshops, and practicum laboratories in the first 3 years on-campus and internship in the fourth year in companies off-campus or abroad.   


The Course will be assessed by progressive learning tasks, final examination and graduation thesis/dissertation.


Bachelor of Management will be awarded to those who meet the requirements of graduation.

Graduates could seek a career in engineering management in engineering and manufacturing industries who performs the duties in project management, project design, engineering procurement, engineering construction and operation, contract management.
