The Business English major aims to cultivate a solid foundation in English, with an international perspective and humanistic literacy, mastery of relevant basic theories and knowledge in linguistics, economics, management, law (international business law), familiarity with the common rules and practices of international business, English application ability, business practice ability, cross-cultural communication ability, thinking and innovation ability, self-learning ability, and the ability to engage in international business work as versatile and applied talents.
The Business English major at Guangdong Baiyun University is an applied major aimed at adapting to the economic restructuring and development of the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area, and catering to the market and social needs of the region. Cultivate open applied talents with an international perspective, understanding of foreign trade processes, mastery of communication skills, and proficiency in English listening, speaking, reading, writing, and translation skills. The professional career goal positioning is mainly for business personnel engaged in international trade, foreign trade document clerks assisting in fulfilling trade contracts, foreign trade document clerks handling international trade settlements, business personnel operating and managing cross-border e-commerce, and positions that can perform Chinese English pen and oral translation in foreign trade activities, as well as fluent English oral expression.
Ⅱ. Cultivation objectives
This major connects with the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area and RCEP international business, especially cross-border e-commerce related industry clusters, inheriting and leveraging traditional advantages, promoting the cross integration of English and international business, and achieving digital upgrading of business English education. To cultivate well-rounded development in morality, intelligence, physical fitness, aesthetics, and labor, proficient in English listening, speaking, reading, writing, and cross-cultural communication skills in the intersection of business English and international business, strong abilities in digital humanities, translation, business, and English education, systematic mastery of professional knowledge, familiarity with digital trade rules, and possessing digital technology and information management skills. To be able to work in positions such as foreign trade and import and export trade, exhibition industry, international trade logistics industry, cross-border e-commerce industry, and to possess a composite applied talent with patriotism, healthy personality, innovative ability, and international perspective.

This major connects with the industry of the Greater Bay Area. According to the OBE concept of "student center, output-oriented and continuous improvement", it builds the talent training program and curriculum system according to the industrial needs, and conducts the joint training between government, schools and enterprises.
This professional adhering to the student as the center, focusing on practical skills and field ability training teaching idea, through individualized, thinking and potential training, heuristic training mode, in the teaching process always combine knowledge understanding and practical use, and the course teaching objectives and skills certificate and professional qualification certificate closely linked, actively promote students to prepare and participate in language level and professional qualification and other kinds of exams.
In recent years, especially during the epidemic period, our major has overcome many difficulties and carefully organized the examination of CET 4 and Level 8 of Business English majors with a high sense of responsibility and mission. Students of our major have excellent test results and the pass rate exceeding 70%, and were awarded as the excellent test point of CET 4 and Level 8 of Business English majors in 2021-2023.
Ⅴ. Teaching conditions

Relying on the advanced teaching conditions of the School of Foreign Languages, this major is equipped with various types of classrooms with different functions and voice rooms with advanced equipment. As early as 2007, the college established the language experiment teaching center, which has 12 speech rooms, 2 translation training rooms, 2 translation training rooms, 4 language application rooms and 28 multimedia classrooms, covering an area of 876 ㎡. All laboratories are equipped with advanced teaching software and monitoring systems. The language application ability room is mainly used for the teaching and practice of basic oral English and translation courses. As a new major, Business English major was established in 2021. The professional internship base is under active construction. The current internship base still relies on the original internship base of Business English major of the School of Foreign Languages.

There are 16 full-time teachers in this major, including 2 professors, 4 associate professors, 2 doctors and 8 double-qualified talents. All of them have master's degree or above. About 40% of them have overseas study or visiting study background and experience of English application in the business field.
