Ⅰ. Professional overview

The German major mainly studies the basic theories and knowledge of German language, grammar, speaking, as well as the culture and history of German speaking countries such as Germany. It receives skill training in German listening, speaking, reading, writing, and translation, and conducts German translation, teaching, and research. German is the sixth most widely spoken language in the world and the most widely used mother tongue within the European Union. It is commonly found in countries and regions such as Germany, Austria, and Liechtenstein.

Our German major at our school is based on serving the economic development of the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area. We are able to translate and trade in German, which means we understand German and have cross-border platform operation skills. We also have cross-cultural action abilities such as translating product manuals, product descriptions, and customer service in German. Most graduates are employed in cities such as Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and Foshan.

Ⅱ. Cultivation objectives

This major is mainly aimed at the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area, RCEP (Regional Economic Cooperation), and international business related industry clusters, cultivating comprehensive development in morality, intelligence, physical fitness, aesthetics, and labor, possessing patriotism, healthy personality, international perspective, craftsmanship spirit, and innovation ability. It has mastered the basic theories and professional skills of the German language major, possesses digital technology and information management abilities, and can engage in positions such as German sales, German teaching, and business translation in the fields of foreign trade, foreign language education, and cross-cultural exchange. It is a composite applied talent.

Ⅲ. Knowledge and ability

1. Professional quality ability: have firm and correct political direction, good ideological character and sound personality, love the motherland, love the people, support the leadership of the Communist Party of China; have scientific spirit, humanistic accomplishment, cultural taste, professional quality and enterprising spirit; care about social issues and national development, have social responsibility, actively participate in social practice;

2.Subject knowledge ability: have systematic and solid German basic knowledge, interdisciplinary knowledge, professional knowledge and professional skills; understand the history, current situation and frontier trends of the major and related disciplines, master the research ideas and methods of the major, and understand the relevant policies, regulations and practices at home and abroad.

3.Application ability: have the ability of cross-field knowledge integration, able to comprehensively use relevant knowledge and listening, speaking, reading, writing and other skills to analyze and solve complex problems in the major or related fields, put forward corresponding countermeasures or programs, and analyze the policy basis, social environment and possible social impact of countermeasures and programs.

Ⅳ.Professional characteristics of the German language

This major connects with the industry of the Greater Bay Area. According to the OBE concept of "student center, output-oriented and continuous improvement", it builds the talent training program and curriculum system according to the industrial needs, and conducts the joint training between government, schools and enterprises.

1. German + e-commerce

This major has established school-enterprise cooperation with a number of domestic and foreign enterprises, jointly formulated talent training plans, jointly created professional resources, realized the connection of teaching and job knowledge and skills, and trained application-oriented German talents who adapt to the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area

2. International cooperation in educating people

This major jointly trains talents with German universities to carry out "3 + 1" learning exchange and "2 + 2.5" and "2 + 3" double degree cooperation education. At the same time, it also cooperates with the German Department of Human Resources Services to provide students with internship and employment opportunities in Germany.

Ⅴ. Teaching conditions

This major shares the advanced teaching conditions of the School of Foreign Languages, equipped with various types and functions of classrooms and advanced equipment in the speech room. At present, 34 speech rooms, 2 translation training rooms, 3 language application ability rooms, and 1 school enterprise cooperation innovation training room have been built. All laboratories are equipped with advanced teaching software and monitoring systems.

There are 34 sets of advanced voice rooms with a total of 1904 workstations and an area of 3600 square meters, using well-known domestic brands such as HP, Lenovo, Haiguang, and Delguang student desktop computers and related advanced supporting facilities. It is a perfect combination of a computer room and a language laboratory. On the basis of a standard computer room, it adds professional digital language learning systems such as Dongfang Zhenglong, Lan Yuntian, Lingji, and Blue Pigeon, as well as foreign language and professional teaching software such as Tsinghua University's New Era Interactive English. The standard computer room is revitalized into a high-end professional digital language laboratory, maximizing its dual-use functions: computer teaching and professional language teaching.

The laboratory is equipped with domestically leading Dongfang Zhenglong and Blue Cloud Sky simultaneous interpretation equipment, and the indoor layout design simulates formal simultaneous interpretation conferences to familiarize students with the conference mode and meet the professional, skilled, and practical needs of simultaneous interpretation, listening, and speaking skills cultivation.

The Language Application Ability Room is mainly used for teaching and practicing basic oral and translation courses. The laboratory adopts a complete set of equipment from a well-known domestic brand (Blue Pigeon), with a total of 4 sets of 259 workstations, covering an area of approximately 391 square meters, all equipped with projectors, recorders, DVD players, speakers, and other supporting equipment. Each workstation is equipped with a digital language learning terminal, which can perform traditional voice teaching (broadcasting teaching, group dialogue, monitoring, intercom, demonstration, etc.).This major has signed school enterprise cooperation agreements with multiple Guangzhou, Foshan and Shenzhen enterprises to achieve professional co construction and joint education.

With the increasingly close economic and trade cooperation between China and Germany, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area presents a trend of "foreign language + interdisciplinary" talents. "German + foreign trade", "German + business translation" and "German + education and training" have great competitive advantages.

Ⅶ.Teachers

There are a total of 9 German language teachers, including 1 professor, 8 lecturers and teaching assistants, and 4 corporate mentors. All full-time teachers have a master's degree or above, and have experience studying, studying, or working in Germany. The teaching team has rich teaching experience and is dedicated to their work.
