Overview:

The Financial Management major primarily targets the Guangdong Province and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, aiming to cultivate comprehensively developed talents with moral, intellectual, physical, aesthetic, and labor qualities. These individuals should possess a sense of patriotism, healthy personality, international perspective, craftsmanship spirit, and innovation ability. They should master the basic theories and professional skills of economics, management, finance, accounting, and financial management. With strong language and writing skills, interpersonal communication abilities, information acquisition capabilities, and excellent comprehensive qualities, they should be proficient in analyzing and solving practical problems in financial management. They should possess strong abilities in accounting, financial analysis, capital operation, cost management, budget management, investment and financing management, risk control, and intelligent financial management. Graduates are expected to work in positions such as cashier, accounting, financial analysis, tax calculation and declaration, and fund management in the fields of financial management and accounting.

Be familiar with policies, laws, and regulations related to financial management, understand international practices, and possess skills in accounting, financial analysis, capital operation, cost management, budget management, investment and financing management, and risk control. Have the ability to engage in financial management practices, professional judgment, and financial and management consulting.

Innovation Abilities: Possess logical thinking, critical spirit, and reflective consciousness. Be able to conduct investigations and research using research methods in financial management, explore new ideas and developments in financial management work, form personal judgments, insights, or countermeasures, and demonstrate strong innovation and entrepreneurship abilities.

Information Abilities: Have strong computer application skills, proficiency in commonly used office software and accounting and financial management professional software. Possess strong information acquisition, data analysis, and credit application abilities, as well as good data thinking and data literacy. Be able to use information technology to carry out related businesses in the major.

The major aligns with the industries in the Greater Bay Area, following the OBE concept of "student-centered, output-oriented, and continuous improvement." The talent training program and curriculum system are constructed closely based on industrial needs, with collaborative training between the government, school, and enterprises.

Emphasis on practical financial management abilities: The major possesses new and well-equipped on-campus experimental venues, implements school-enterprise collaborative education, jointly builds majors, courses, and textbooks with enterprises, and forms a teaching team combining full-time teachers and specially appointed enterprise teachers. It focuses on cultivating students' strong practical financial management abilities and professional judgment abilities. In 2018, the school-enterprise collaborative education training model participated in by teachers of this major won the first prize of Guangdong Provincial Education and Teaching Achievements.

Prominent advantages in teacher qualification structure: The proportion of senior titles among full-time teachers in this major is 57%, and the proportion of dual-qualified teachers exceeds 50%. Relying on the Guangdong Provincial Teaching Team, it focuses on cultivating students with solid professional theoretical knowledge, good professional ethics, and professional competence.

Implementation of the "1+X" certificate system: The major emphasizes the teaching arrangement and ability training for students to obtain "graduation certificates + vocational qualifications." Training courses for professional titles and vocational qualification certificates such as "junior accountant" are arranged from the first year, encouraging and organizing students to take exams for "junior accountant," "banking professional qualification," "securities professional qualification" (including investment advisor professional qualification, futures professional qualification, fund professional qualification, etc.).

Establishment of a professional competition service platform: The major cultivates a sense of competition and collaboration, forming a teaching mechanism of "promoting practice through competition, promoting learning through competition, and promoting teaching through competition."

On-campus concentrated practical teaching segments: Basic Accounting Simulation Training, Intelligent Financial Shared Services Training, Financial Papers Writing Training, On-campus Simulation Comprehensive Internship.

Enterprise practical teaching projects and main content: Online courses such as "Entrepreneurial Management Journey - Taking You Through Business Models," "Management Innovation - Cases and Practices," "Management Innovation," and "Literature Retrieval and Application." Professional ethics education, regional (industry) or enterprise research, professional internships, graduation internships, graduation theses (designs).


Teaching Conditions:

Laboratory Construction: The Economics and Management Experimental Teaching Center of Guangdong Baiyun University, as one of the school's key experimental teaching centers, was established in 2005. The center was selected as a provincial experimental teaching demonstration center construction unit in 2012 and received the title of Guangdong Provincial Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center after completion of the inspection in 2017. The center moved to the North Campus in October 2019, covering an area of 5,600 square meters with an additional investment of 16 million yuan. The financial management laboratory is an important part of the center, consisting of a financial management professional laboratory and a cross-disciplinary comprehensive simulation experimental teaching platform. The financial management professional laboratory undertakes professional single experiments and comprehensive experiments such as accounting simulation training, financial analysis, management accounting comprehensive training, financial decision-making simulation training, intelligent financial training, accounting information system, and ERP comprehensive application.

On the cross-disciplinary comprehensive simulation experimental teaching platform, our school uses virtual reality technology to create a fully simulated teaching environment, "bringing the enterprise into the campus and realizing the teaching mode of 'class = work.'" Students can experience a real corporate work environment during their school years, breaking the sense of strangeness and mystery about future jobs and quickly adapting to the work environment in the workplace. Through financial management experimental teaching, students can develop strong accounting and financial management practical abilities, as well as good interpersonal communication skills.

All experimental courses are offered, with a 100% opening rate of experimental projects. All professional courses are taught in multimedia classrooms.

Practical Base Construction: The major has established 322 off-campus practical teaching bases, including 16 closely cooperating enterprise bases. Deep cooperation is conducted through the joint construction of colleges, majors, courses, and textbooks with practical teaching bases. Based on the principles of "job-related and undergraduate level," internship positions are developed, maintaining a reserve of total positions and gradually improving the quality of internship positions to ensure the effectiveness of enterprise practical teaching.


Employment Prospects:

Graduates of this major are primarily employed in industrial and commercial enterprises, public institutions, government departments, banks, securities, insurance companies, and other units, engaging in financial management, management accounting, consulting services, accounting, and related economic management work.


Faculty:

The major currently has 14 full-time teachers, including 1 outstanding teacher in Guangdong Province, 1 professor, 7 associate professors, and 8 dual-qualified teachers. The qualification structure, age structure, and title structure are prominent.The teaching team for the Financial Management major was recognized as a Provincial Ideological and Political Education Demonstration Team in Guangdong Province in 2021. These teachers possess solid professional theoretical foundations, excellent professional skills, rich teaching experience, and a strong sense of responsibility. They actively implement the "student-centered" education and teaching philosophy, earning high praise from students.

Among the full-time teachers for professional courses, 93% hold degrees in accounting and economics and management, and 93% have master's degrees or above. The proportion of teachers with senior titles (including associate professors) and doctorates is 64%. These teachers not only possess profound professional knowledge but also keep pace with industry developments, providing students with cutting-edge and practical teaching content.
