The Objective

The Course of Accounting majoring in Accounting or Accounting & Taxation or Certified Accountants is designed to cultivate students with theories and practices, knowledge and skills, regulations and standards in the area of accounting and develop students to be an accountant. The Course is articulated with that of West Sydney University and Edith Cowan University, Australia where students could study for 2 years in China and 2 years in USA to obtain two degrees from China and Australia.

Students who complete the Course will be able to understand and appreciate the theories and knowledge, apply the skills and practices, and comply with the regulations and standards in the area of accounting.   

Content

The Course contains the theories in management, economics, law, finance, and finance, the knowledge and skills in corporate financing, investment, financial operations, financial analysis, and the practices and regulations in  financial accounting, management accounting, financial management, financial planning, auditing, tax planning, and economic law. The Course is of 4-year duration including 2 years of study in Australia.

Core Units

First Year: Introduction to Accounting, Principles of Accounting, Principles of Management, Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Regulations on Finance and Accounting, Professional Ethics in Accounting, Practices in Accounting 

Second Year: Intermediate Accounting, Economic Law, Financial Management, Accounting Information System, Tax Law,  Accounting Simulation, Accounting for Taxation, Certified Accountant Practices

Third Year: Advanced Financial Accounting, Auditing, Management Accounting, Financial Analysis, Assets Evaluation, Operations in Accounting Firms, Computerized Taxation, Computerised Auditing 

Fourth Year: Corporate Survey, Company Internship, Graduation Practicum, Graduation Thesis

Delivery

The Course is delivered in lectures, tutorials, workshops, and practicum laboratories in the first 2 years on-campus in China and the following 2 years in Australia or the whole 4 years in China.    

Assessments

The Course will be assessed by progressive learning tasks, final examination and graduation thesis/dissertation as required by both Guangdong Baiyun University and the Universities in Australia.

Award

Bachelor of Management will be awarded in China as well as Bachelor of Business in Australia to those who meet the requirements of graduation by both universities. The Australian Bachelor of Business degree could be accredited by the Professional Body (CPA Australia).

Career Prospects

Graduates could seek a career in finance, taxation, and auditing or as a certified practicing accountant in accounting firms, financial institutions, industrial companies, government departments or research institutions.
