The Objective 

The Course of Architecture (Certified Architect) is designed to cultivate students with theories and knowledges, regulations and practices, and technology and skills in relation to the concepts of space, function and structure of architecture and develop students to be a nationally certified architect.

Knowledge, Skills and Capabilities

Students who complete the Course will be able to understand and appreciate the theories and knowledges, be familiar with and comply with regulations and practices, and apply the technology and skills to solve the problems  in designing space, function and structure of architecture and meet the requirements for a nationally certified architect.

Content

The Course contains theories and concepts, regulations and practices, and technology and skills that are required to be a certified architect. The Course is of 5-year duration.

Core Units

First Year: Introduction to Architecture, Architectural Drawing, Building Sketching and Coloring, Structure Design, Construction Drawing, Fundamentals of Architectural Design 

Second Year: Architectural Presentation, Residential Building Design, Building Materials, Residential  Architecture, Building Structural Mechanics, Architectural Drawing and CAD, Construction Drawing Design I 

Third Year: Architectural Structure, Construction Drawing Design II, Public Architecture Design I, Public Architecture Design II, Chinese and Foreign Histories of Architecture, Graphic Image Processing, Computer-aided Design I, Computer-aided Design II (including BIM Technology), Interior Design, Architectural Physics 

Fourth Year: Public Building Design III, Urban Planning and Design, Architectural Landscape Design, Architectural Thematic Design, Construction Project Design, Site Design, Engineering Measurements, Building Equipment, Regulations on Architecture 

Fifth Year: Business Research, Production Practice, Graduation Practice, Graduation Thesis

Delivery

The Course is delivered in lectures, tutorials, workshops, and practicum laboratories in the first 4 years on-campus and internship in the fifth year in companies off-campus or abroad.   

Assessments

The Course will be assessed by progressive learning tasks, final examination and graduation thesis/dissertation.

Award

Bachelor of Engineering is awarded to those who have satisfied with the requirements of graduation. 

Career Prospects 

Graduates could seek a career in the the civil engineering industry with reference to architectural design institutes,  architectural design firms, real estate development enterprises, goverment departments, planning bureaus and other governmental management departments engage in construction industry management, urban management, housing quality inspection agencies, and offices of ancient buildings protection.
