The Objective

The Course of Fashion and Accessory Design is designed to cultivate students with sound theorectical and  professional knowledge and advanced practical skills in the area of fashion and accessory design. This Course is articulated with those of Edith Cowan University and West Sydney University, Australia, where students may study 2 years in China and 2 years  in Australia to acquire two Bachelor degrees of China and Australia.

Knowledge, Skills and Capabilities

Students who complete the Course will have strong market-oriented design consciousness and commercial  competitiveness, to master the fundamental operational knowledge of fashion industry as well as the key skills  to appreciate the fashion trends and future developments,  to engage in the development, design, trade and management of fashion and fashion business.

Content

The Course contains theories of fashion and accessory design, fashion trends and industry developments,  skills in design, drawing, prototyping, patterning, sewing, manufacturing, branding and marketing, and approaches to operation of fashion business.  The Course is of 4-year duration.

Units

Core Units: Chinese and Western Fashion History, Materials Selection and Preparation, Pattern Design and Paterning, Fashion Drawing Techniques, Fabric Pattern Design, Fabric shaping, Fashion Accessory Design, Fashion Design Methodology, Accessories Design, 3D Printing Design and Cutting, Computer-aided Design, Manufacturing Technology and Production, Special Fashion Design, Fashion Theme Design, Shoes and Boots Design, Bag Design, and Leather Goods Design.

Practicum Units: 1) On-campus Practicum Units: Pattern Design & Production, Innovative Design,  Dress Design, Costume Jewelry Design, Fashion Theme Design, Fashion Consumer Behaviour Survey, Comprehensive Innovation Training, Making and Production Technology Training. 2) Enterprise Practicum Units Off campus: Production (Professional) Practice, Graduation Practice,  and Graduation Design (Thesis).

Delivery

The course is delivered in lectures, tutorials, workshops, and practicum laboratories in the first 3 years on-campus and internship in the fourth year in companies off-campus or abroad.   

Assessments

The Course  will be assessed by progressive learning tasks, final examination and graduation thesis/dissertation.

Award

Bachelor of  Arts is awarded to those who meet the requirements of graduation .

Career Prospects

Graduates could seek career in R&D design, Collocation Design, Marketing and International Trade, Business Management and could also engage in teaching in fashion and assessories design in educational colleges and training companies.

The Course of Fashion And Accessory Design (Leather  Goods Design) is designed to cultivate students with sound theorectical and  professional knowledge and advanced practical skills in the area of fashion and accessory design (leather goods design).

Students who complete the Course will have strong market-oriented design consciousness and commercial  competitiveness, to master the fundamental operational knowledge of leather goods industry as well as the key skills  to appreciate the fashion trends and future developments,  to engage in the development, design, trade and management of leather goods business.

The Course contains theories of fashion and leather goods design, fashion trends and leather goods industry developments,  skills in design, drawing, prototyping, patterning, sewing, manufacturing, branding and marketing, and approaches to operation of leather goods business.

Core Units:  Shoes and Boots Design, Structure of Shoes and Boots, Special Design, Sketching and Drawing Techniques, Boxes and Bags Modeling, Bags Structures,  Boxes and Bags Process, Graphic Imaging, Pattern Design, Computer-aided Design, Shoes Lasting Design, Material Science, Shoe Soles Design, Shoes and Boots Branding.

Practicum Units: 1) On-campus Practicum:  Creative Design,  Shoes and Boots Production, Fashion Shoe Structuring, Shoes and Boots Innovation, Costume and Jewelry Design and Production, Special Shoes and Boots Production, Innovation and Branding, Computer-aided Design and Innovation, Shoes and Boots Comprehensive Innovation. 2) Enterprise Practicum: Production (Professional) Practice, Graduation Practice and Graduation Design (Thesis).
