The Objective

The Course of Accounting is designed to cultivate students with theories and practices, knowledge and skills, standards and regulations in the area of accounting and develop students to be a professional accountant. The Course is a double-Bachelor degree program which is articulated with that of Edith Cowan University, Australia. Students could study for 2 years in China and 2 years in Australia and will be able to be awarded two Bachelor degrees. 

Knowledge, Skills and Capabilities

Students who complete the Course is able to understand and appreciate the theories and practices in accounting, to be familiar with standards and ethics of accounting in China and Australia, to master Chinese and English languages, and have access to professional qualifications of relevant business management associations in China and Australia. 

Content

The Course contains theories and practices, ethics and standards, skills and visions, business rules and multinational cultures in the area of accounting. The Course is of 4 years duration in China including 2 years of study in Australia.

Core Units

The First Stage (Year 1 and Year 2):

10 Units of General Education: English 1, English 2, Physical Education and Sports, Ethics and Law, Modern Chinese History, Mathematics, Culture and Philosophy, Government Policies, Information Technology, Fundamentals of Marxism

10 Units of Disciplinary Education:  English 3, English 4, Management, Principles of Accounting, Financial Management, Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Cross-Cultural Communication, Marketing, and Information Systems Management 

The Second Stage (Year 3 and Year 4):

Students who meet the entry requirements could advance their study for 2 years at Edith Cowan University, Australia. 

Delivery

The Course is delivered in lectures, tutorials, workshops, and practicum laboratories in the first 2 years on-campus and the study abroad programs in the third and fourth years in Edith Cowan University, Australia or the third and fourth years in China.    

Assessments

The Course will be assessed by progressive learning tasks, final examination and graduation thesis/dissertation as required by both Guangdong Baiyun University and Edith Cowan University.

Award

Bachelor of Economics will be awarded to those who meet the requirements of graduation in China as well as Bachelor of Business in Australia. The Australia Bachelor of Business degree could be accredited by the Professional Body in Australia.

Career prospects

Graduates could seek a career in the area of accounting such as corporate accounting, taxation, auditing or in the area of management such as corporate strategic management, department management, marketing management, cross-border e-commerce management in enterprises either in China or abroad or multinational corporations.
