Faculty of Electronic and Information Engineering

The Faculty of Electronic and Information Engineering offers 4 undergraduate programs majoring in Electronic Information Engineering, Communication Engineering, Electronic  Engineering and Automation. 

The Faculty is one of the key faculties in the University and has an enrolment of over1,000 students and graduated over 10,000 students who are specialised in electronic engineering, communication and  automation. 

The Faculty has 46 academic members, of whom, there are 4 professors, 32 professionals and 4 doctorates and there are over 76% of staff who have masters degree ot above. The Faculty has established a high quality faculty of academic staff with sound professional qualifications, profound academic qualifications and appropriate age structure due to the  strategy of “Going out, Coming in” to attract academics of both professional and academic qualifications and bringing in a group of senior engineers from enterprises with a wealth of practical experience.

The Faculty has adopted a curriculum with a focus on the development of applied professional skills by intensifying engineering ability build-up that meets the needs of industrial and regional development. The Curriculum is characterised by “One Main Theme, Two Needs, Three Principles and Four Key Points” where “One Main Theme ” stands for the curriculum to strengthen students’ professional quality and engineering ability as the main theme, “Two Needs ” stand for the curriculum to meet industry’s needs and meet regional needs, “Three Principles ” mean that the curriculum follows three principles of application, practice and optimizing, and “Four Key Points ” refer to the curriculum to adhere to the four points in the teaching process of “engineering ability-based ideas on education”, “teaching process of paying equal attention to theory and practice”, “integration of production, learning and research”, and “both ethic and ability development in entrepreneurship and  innovation”.

The Faculty has 67 teaching practicum facilities, including electrical and electronic experiment center, electrical engineering practice center, automation laboratory and college student science and technology innovation center and college students entrepreneurship and innovation center. The total value of facilities exceeds 65 million. In addition, The Faculty has also established 50 off-campus practicum bases in cooperation with more than 100 companies such as China Southern Power Grid, Midea Group, Baiyun Electric Group, Gree Electric Group and China Mobile so as to guarantee sufficient internship places and  employment opportunities for students. The Faculty has international partnerships with a number of foreign universities, particularly with Purdue University of USA to deliver a 2+2 program in computer technology to assist students to study for 2 years in China and 2 years in USA to acquire two bachelor degrees.

During the past three years, the Faculty have undertaken more than 40 teaching and academic research projects being financed by the University and 7 academic and teaching and research projects funded by Guangdong Provincial Government. More than 200 academic papers are published on core journals and international conferences at home and abroad, among which seven are published on EI. More than 20 monographs and textbooks are officially published. The Faculty has completed 15 horizontal projects funded by companies and registered 6 patents for invention. Its students have accomplished over 30 Projects in University Innovation Entrepreneurship Festivals with the guidance of academic staff.

The Faculty attaches great importance to the development of students’ integrated competence and coordinated development of knowledge, ability and ethics, thus resulting in a variety of awards from state-level and provincial-level science and technology competitions as well as the contests held by Guangdong Baiyun University during science and technology festivals. They have won over the past three years one state-level first-place award, 2 second-place awards, 2 third-place awards, 5 provincial-level second-place awards and 10 third-place awards in contests of electronic design, Blue Bridge Cup and Freescale Cup. They also have won 5 third-place awards in Challenge Cup Extra-curricular Academic Technology  Competition.

The Faculty always sets for itself as important priority to provide satisfying employment opportunities to graduates. By providing all-round ability-based education and widening employment channels, the Faculty has achieved both high graduate employment rates and high degree of employers satisfaction with an graduate employment rate remaining at 98.5% or above during the past three years.
